Call for papers: graduate students[19-11-1996]ITALIAN STUDIES IN THE NINETIES: METODI NUOVI MARCH 14 & 15, 1997 CALL FOR PAPERS The Italian Department at New York University will hold a graduate student conference on "Italian Studies in the Nineties" on Friday and Saturday, March 14 & 15 at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo'. We are interested in contributions that address the question of the present and future of Italian Studies within the context of disciplinary and institutional transformations in the '90's. With the organizing principles of disciplines under attack, what possibilities remain for the study of Italian literature and culture? How are Italianists participating in debates that also fall under the rubrics of Gender Studies, Cultural Studies and Queer Theory? How are interdisciplinary approaches changing the object of study itself? Theoretical discussions or practical applications of theory with respect to any time period and/or genre are welcome. Talks may be in English or Italian, and should be limited to 20 minutes. Interested graduate students should submit a 1-2 page abstract by January 15, 1997 to: Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo'
