Convegno AATI

[9-3-1996]

AATI will hold its annual meeting in conjunction with ACTFL in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 22-24, 1996 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Eligibility: Only proposals from AATI members in good standing will be considered. Every participant is required to pay the ACTFL registration fee, of which part is returned to AATI.

Guidelines for proposals: Each paper/presentation must not exceed 20 minutes in length (10 pages). Each speaker must send an abstract to the Chair of the Program committee, Christopher Kleinhenz (for address see below). Each speaker will be allowed to read only one paper. Proposals for sessions on special topics are welcome. Details on speakers (title of paper, address, telephone number, etc.) must be provided at the time of submission.

Deadline for proposals: March 15, 1996 (but this is flexible).

Participants will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of the paper by mid-April. If your paper is accepted, we will ask you to provide a fifty-word abstract that will be published in the special AATI program. If your paper is accepted, you must deliver it yourself. A colleague may not read the paper in your absence.

Papers are welcomed for the following areas of interest:

  1. Pedagogy (Theory and Practice)
  2. Philology and Linguistics
  3. Medieval Italian Literture and Culture (Duecento, Trecento, including Dante)
  4. Renaissance Italian Literature and Culture (Quattrocento, Cinquecento, Seicento)
  5. Early Modern Literature and Culture (Settecento, Ottocento) 6. Contemporary Italian Literarature, Cinema, and Culture (Novecento) 7. Special Sessions/Panel Discussions and Related Professional Topics.

There will be between 30-35 sessions, each of which will last 75 minutes. Generally no more than three speakers will be allowed in each session.

Chairs of sessions. Colleagues wishing to chair a session should send their request to the Chair of the Program Committee.

ACTFL will mail information on hotel reservations and travel before the beginning of the summer. The address is: ACTFL, 6 Executive Plaza, Yonkers, NY 10701. Tel (914) 963-8830; Fax (914) 963-1275.

Equipment: In the past AATI has paid for all equipment costs for our sessions; however, given the constantly rising costs, we are asking our participants at the annual meeting to pay a portion of the cost for equipment that they order for their presentation. Participants will pay these charges directly to AATI at the time their session is confirmed. For example, on the basis of current charges (VCR $40, and computers $50) you will be asked to pay $20 and $25, respectively. Therefore, please use good judgment when requesting equipment for your presentation.
